For the ambitious woman entrepreneur, the idea of stepping away from the business often feels impossible. Yet, as we frequently discuss at Co-Women, strategic rest is not a luxury—it’s a prerequisite for avoiding burnout and maintaining the creative edge needed for success. Our member, Bonni Foulds, recently took the time to recharge in Antigua, and her experience perfectly illustrates the power of a proper disconnection.

Effortless Elegance, Essential Exhale
I arrived at bright blue skies and the kind of sunshine that instantly makes you exhale. After a short transfer, I pulled up at Blue Waters, Antigua, where every smiling face reminded me why this resort has such a loyal following. It’s the kind of place where time seems to slow down, effortlessly elegant yet wonderfully unpretentious—precisely the kind of environment a busy woman in business needs to truly switch off.
Tucked away on the island’s northern tip, Blue Waters blends old-school Caribbean charm with refined luxury. My suite overlooked a small, secluded cove, turquoise water framed by palm trees. Each morning I’d wander out to my terrace with a cuppa and simply watch the sea, allowing my brain the quiet space it rarely gets during the working week.

Beyond the Desk: Adventures and Connection
Taking time away isn’t just about sitting still; it’s about engaging your brain in new ways. On our first day, we headed out on one of Blue Waters’ sleek speedboats with their lovely crew. We cruised along the west coast, swimming with turtles and stingrays, before a leisurely tapas-style lunch at Sheer Rocks. Moments like these remind us that the world is bigger than our inbox, boosting perspective and creativity.
The evenings offered equally valuable connection, proving that business networking doesn’t always happen in a conference room. We ventured out one evening to Papa Zouk, a legendary seafood restaurant and rum bar boasting over 250 bottles. After some delicious lobster and a fascinating chat with the owner, Bert, the energy and stories of the island became the perfect fuel for a deep, restful sleep.
The next morning, after yet another fabulous breakfast, we even headed to Galleon Beach to make our own rum—a fun and surprisingly educational experience (though I doubt my blend will be hitting the shelves anytime soon!).
Hospitality That Restores Your Faith in People
Back at the resort, there’s plenty of choice for dining. With three restaurants, every meal feels like a treat, but don’t miss dinner at The Cove, one of the island’s most romantic spots, with views that steal the show.
What truly makes Blue Waters special, though, is the people. The warmth of the staff is genuine; nothing feels scripted or rehearsed. Nicole, the villa manager, seems to be everywhere at once and just can’t do enough for you. They remember your name, your favourite drink, even how you take your coffee. For women entrepreneurs who spend their days managing teams and serving clients, receiving this level of truly personal hospitality is incredibly restorative.

Making the Strategic Investment
Although there’s a fantastic kids’ club (complete with pet tortoises!), I’d say this resort is best suited to couples and families with older children looking for space and tranquillity. For couples seeking ultimate privacy and rest, the Cove Suites are the ultimate choice, spacious, private, and close to their own pool and concierge.
This kind of dedicated downtime is a critical investment in your long-term success. You can stay in a Cove Suite on an All-Inclusive basis for 7 nights in April, including return direct flights from London, from £8,500 per couple. But honestly, with Antigua’s year-round sunshine, any time is the perfect time to go.
Get in touch for more information, videos, and photos. I promise, a strategic retreat to Blue Waters will capture your heart and reset your strategy, just as it did mine.
