Boudoir Photography

Hi, I’m Susan, but most people in the UK call me Susie. I moved to the UK from Canada right after university, where I studied sculpture in Toronto. Just a year into my time here, I serendipitously found a job in a little portrait studio in Hove. Ever since that fateful day, I’ve been obsessed with everything about photography. Through my 24-year career, I’ve developed a unique style that’s hard to label—it’s a blend of boudoir, portraiture, fashion, and fine art with retro and vintage influences. My passion is showing people a different way to see themselves by creating a photoshoot experience where they can step into their power. It’s truly beautiful to see even those with very little confidence start to fall in love with and accept themselves and their bodies. In a world where mainstream media promotes unattainable beauty standards, it’s no wonder many of us struggle with body image and feel like we’re not enough. The photoshoot experience I create for my clients aims to empower by challenging these limiting self-beliefs and to build new confidence. Makeup and hair styling play a big part in the experience, as well as lots of direction and coaching on how to posing to make the most of their curves and to find their best angles. I work from a beautiful Regency studio in Hove, which is an Aladdin’s cave of accessories and headdresses available for shoots. I always have a personal project on the go and my currently it's reviving the BurIesque Pin-Up Parlour after a seven year break by creating a "Wall of Pin-Ups" 40 separate shoots of unique individuals that re-define pin-up photography with a contemporary twist. If you think you might like to be part of that you know I'd love to hear from you.
