If we can't go to Italy, then Italy will come to us! Here I'm talking with David Toscano about his award winning restaurants Cin Cin:
Please tell us about your business and what you offer?
Cin Cin is two award winning Italian restaurants in Brighton and Hove. We are currently offering Cin Cin At Home for delivery including boxes containing 3 courses for 2 people or handmade lasagnes in sharing sizes, as well as focaccia, olives, cured meats, cheeses and pizzettas.
How long have you been based in Brighton?
Cin Cin first opened in the North Laine in 2016 but was launched as a vintage street food van back in 2013.
What challenges has your business faced since we went into lockdown?
Having to completely pivot our business from full service restaurant to delivery service as a way to reach our customers, who have been fabulous and supportive. Most difficult has been the continuing uncertainty as that has made it almost impossible to plan our recovery and long term survival.
Would you say that the Support Local Facebook group and website have been a help to your business?
Absolutely, it's been such a positive experience to see people like Jo fight for independent businesses like ours to help make sure we do not disappear from the high street.
What advice would you give to anyone who is struggling right now?
Speak to others in your sector, now is the time for collaboration and cooperation. Together we can get through this and come out stronger.
What happy song makes you dance in your kitchen?!
My kids are 5 and 3 so unfortunately at the moment it's Axel F by Crazy Frog!
Anything further you'd like to tell us?
I'd like customers to know that we are really missing them and cannot wait to see them again. As a hospitality business it really is all about people and giving them an enjoyable experience so we are often daydreaming about that first day back, even with reduced capacity, to greet customers (safely) and give them the Cin Cin experience again! See you then!
